3 Best Day Trips from Barcelona

Jasmine Caceres

Barcelona was one of my favorite cities to visit but getting out of the city to these three locations made for some mind-blowing memories.

Montserrat, Andorra, Gerona

  • Montserrat, Spain

There’s some beautiful mountain-built monasteries in the world and the Abbey of Montserrat is one that should be visited at least once. The mountain views are exceptional, and there’s a handful of easy(ish) hikes around the abbey where you may even spot some cliff-walking goats. But definitely take time to tour the museums, abbey, and see the famous Black Madonna.

  • Andorra

The drive may be roughly three hours each way but the scenic views during the drive made it fly by. Andorra is small enough of a country to visit much of it in just a day, and when else will you be able to take a day trip to an entirely different country with an entirely different history. Top spot: Jardins de Juberri.

  • Gerona, Spain

I loved the contrast between the bustling city of Barcelona to the medieval town of Girona. It was a great spot to slow down and roam for hours. For Game of Thrones fans, it’s also home to several of the shows former filming locations.
